The mole poblano is fucking delicious. The tacos and small dishes are solid too but I consider this place to be better for "sit down" dishes.
Wash it down with a Mexican Coke with that real real cane sugar! -

I had high expectations for a few key dishes here, having been to Guadalajara and experienced how delicious vegetarian items like sopes and chillaquiles can be when made well. I happened to be in Ridgewood the other day so made a pit stop here after filling up on boreks.
I only had the appetite for some sopes...and they were fine. For me fresh sopes right off the grill oozing with cheese are hard to beat, and don't even need to be layered with crema on top. But these didnt have that fresh off the grill magic, and the lettuce and crema on top weighed them down in my opinion.
Perhaps on another visit I will give the chillquiles a shot. -

I have lived near Guadalajara De Dia 2 for 2 YEARS and somehow just found out about it a couple of months ago. I can't believe how much of my life was wasted not eating these tacos! My favorite are the carnitas tacos. The pork is seasoned well, the guacamole is great, tortillas are chewy and delicious. Also, make sure you get both the red and green sauce with them- they are both insanely delicious! The salsa verde tastes so fresh and light and really adds to the flavor of the taco.
The portions here are big and the price is reasonable. Around 10 dollars for three HUGE tacos. I highly recommend if you are in the area! -

Not much to look at BUT the food is SO delicious! The sauces are amazing and made our chilaquiles and huevos so good.
What's amazing to me is that on a Sunday AM the place was not full of brunch eaters. -

honestly, probably the best and authentic mexican food i've tasted in new york (granted, i haven't tried sunset park yet so TBD).
this casual place serves food and a mini grocery story too. the menu is extensive and offered traditional mexican food.
i went with the classic chicken tacos with auga de jamaica. it was SOOO good. the tacos were large and extremely fulfilling - unlike the small ones you'd get in chelsea. the hibiscus water was super fresh and delicious.
prices were affordable and fair. i honestly would make the trek into ridgewood just for the food.
